This is one of my favorite places to eat in Mt. Pleasant! Their tzaziki sauce is one of the best I've had, and their chicken gyro pizza is to die for! I always come by when I'm in town!

One might ask how can I give less than five stars to my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in the land? Well, since you asked! I've been dining in and taking out food from Papa ZuZu's for many many years. I enjoy every item on the menu and the house made feta is second to none. After recently moving out of Mt. P it has been necessary to make this a destination trip as I attempted to tonight. Unfortunately, upon arrival at 8:25 we are greeted to the OPEN sign being already turned off, and the staff explained as we walked in that they would be closing early. This is at least the third time this has happened. In order to earn back my five star rating, not only do you have to deliver excellent food (which they always do), but excellent service. We had a friend visiting from out of town with us and we could not wait to share this experience. It is so important to hold to the posted hours no matter what. Okay, power outage or hurricane scare would be an acceptable exception. The restaurant business is not for the faint of heart. But, if you can't deliver excellent food AND excellent service every day, I simply can not maintain my five star rating. I'm sure I'll be back, but not without calling ahead!

Papa Zuzu's is just as they describe themselves - real food, real fresh. I have frequented them many times, and can always count on a good meal. The menu is Greek driven, mainly serving salads, gyros and pita wraps, and pizza. The restaurant interior is simple but serves well, with a few booths and tables inside, and then tables outside. We usually stop by on a Friday or Saturday night, and it can vary between busy or just not busy. When entering, notice the tomatoes lined up on windows and in boxes. They serve some delicious & fresh tomatoes. I love ordering the Greek Village salad, which includes the vine ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, Feta cheese, olives on a small bed of lettuce mix. I could actually go for even more tomatoes, they are so good.
We usually share the large plate which is very big. Then for entrees we stick to their large Signature Gyro, a generously filled pita with the lamb & beef blend, plus some lettuce, onions, and Tzatziki sauce. This is a mouthful, and should only be ordered for the hungry. It's loaded and overflowing, and will get a little messy. We have tried their pizza, and enjoyed it, but we always crave their gyro.
They serve beer and wine here, as we always enjoy local beers. And a few dessert options are available, but go with the baklava.
Service - now that's the 1 star reduction. This recent visit we had good service and appreciate the hard work and friendly staff this time. But on previous occasions service has not been as expected. Guess it goes with the territory.
They do a lot of take out orders, so if that is something you seek then order up. -

We have been here several times before and always delicious. Wonderful food and consistent service, thank you.
I do have one concern and that is with the ventilation system. Looks like you have black mold coming from the ceiling tiles and vents. -

Fresh, real, delicious Greek dishes served in Mt P. They treat ingredients with integrity, like the local (when available) tomatoes that ripen on site and taste garden fresh. Dishes I can highly recommend are Tzatziki and Pita, Greek Village Salad, Grilled Eggplant, Grilled Pizzas, and of course the biggest and best-ever ZuZu's Signature Gyro. Save room for Baklava or Greek Yogurt with Berries and Honey. Props for offering local brews. Casual service and atmosphere. Nostimo.
